The most common error occurrence in tidE is a File System file already open (-49) error. This can occur if the File Section is in use by another program, open in another window, or if a program crash has recently occurred. If no other program is accessing the file: restart the Mac and try again (this should close any open file).
If some other error has occurred and the program has bombed - all is not lost. The last changes made to the File Section have been saved in a buffer file that appears in the same directory as tidE. Open the buffer file that has a date/time most similar to when you were editing and copy the results from this file or, if you are satisfied with the entire contents, simply rename the buffer to be the original File Section.
